Here's a VERY popular new item and another exclusive Heliproz accessory to go with it! The Venom on-board thermometer is a VERY valuable tool. It is installed on your helicopter with a thermocouple loop placed around the head of your engine. (The red-covered part of the wire loop needs to be snugged up against the BACK of the cylinder right below the heat sink head). Then all you do is select Farenheit or Celsius readout and push the button to switch between present temperature or highest temperature! The unit stores the peak temp until you turn it off. On 30-40 engines you will be looking for a temp no more than 230 deg. F. For 50-60 you should redline it at around 210, and the big blocks (70/80/90) seem to prefer a bit cooler yet, around 200 makes them very happy. At any rate, you can decide what temp you feel works best and from that point on it is easy to set your needles with NO guesswork! If the temp is too hot you are lean, if it's too cool you are wasting fuel and power with a rich setting. The gauge comes with battery installed. It is designed to be sticky-taped on, which is a fine way to install it on RC cars but we do not like the mess and insecurity of that method on helis, plus it is a real pain to scrape and clean every time you need to change battery. SO, once again we have a solution that is both low priced and extremely functional - the new Heliproz exclusive (no doubt soon to be copied) CNC machined mounting bracket! |

Above you can see the HPM Venom Mounting bracket installed. Simple and elegant, it does the job and provides a far more safe and secure mounting for the thermometer, and is very easy to install. (Complete hardware and instructions are included) Below left is the Venom Thermometer securely mounted on Eric's Raptor 70. Below right is how it looked after 1 case of fuel with the standard "sticky tape" mounting method. Guess which we like best? |
