YES, IT''s A WINNER! And we have FULL PARTS SUPPORT at GREAT PRICES with free UPS shipping on all orders over $100. We now have quite a bit of fuel thru the new Sceadu from Hirobo. It's a very agile machine, especially with the flybar weights removed. It also has THE BEST, most slop-free tail of any stock 30 on the market with a Freya-style 2-pin pitch slider and stock boom -mounted TR servo. In fact the entire control system, and thus the feel, are very similar to the Freay 60. A CCPM crossgrade is supposed to be available some time, tho most people won't feel any need to change it. The Sceadu is a simple to build heli with molded frames and extensive use of molded parts. The starting system is NOT like the Freya (THANK YOU!) but rather uses a standard 6mm hex start shaft. Unfortunately it needs a start shaft with one-way bearing, but at least you can use that on most other helis too (unlike the strange Freya start shaft setup). TheFuel tank is on the small side, especially for a 50 engine but is very acceptable for a 30 engine, especially if you use a header tank. The heli looks great and flies great. The 30 kits come with 550 wood blades while the 50 kits come with 575 mm glass blades. We haven't flown it with a 50 yet but are confident that it is an awesome 3D machine with the OS .50 SXH. Either way, the control system is very powerful and has a great feel to it. The muffler that comes with the kits probably should have been left out. It's very loud. We also think that the cooling shroud needs a bit of a front extension. On the 30 model especially we and some of our customers have had difficulty getting proper power without overheating. This is mostly due to the lack of any thing directing air over the head of the engine. It's not as much of a problem with the 50 version since the OS .50 is so powerful that it is more than adequate even set very rich. See the bottom of this page for more. Below is our SOLUTION TO THE SMALL TANK with THE EVER-THIRSTY OS 50SXH! |

| As you can see in the photo below, the stock "shroud" doesn't even get air to the TOP side of the head, let alone the full head area. | ||

We tried different blades, different exhaust systems and all sorts of needle settings and still the engine ran hot. (We've been running glow engines since the late 1960's and fly a lot of the OS .32SXH's and have pert-near figgered out how to work them needle things). So we went ahead and made a shroud extension to direct the air over the cylinder head. Amazingly enough, this helped considerably. CHT dropped about 20 degrees F. with no change in needle setting and the performance was back to what we expected of a largish 30 sized heli. Anyhow, we now have a shroud extension / frame brace available, ready to mount and with all mounting hardware for both the 30 and 50 Sceadu. You could also make your own, the photo below shows what we have done to direct the cooling air over the head and it would not be a big problem to make your own. As you can see, our part looks nice and allows easy plug access while directing the airflow all the way to the back of the cylinder head. |
