Piccoboards are Flakey - NOTICE
The Piccoboards as delivered from Horizon/Ikarus are suffering failure rates approaching 100%!! The speed controller/gyro boards seem to be fine, but the receiver boards most definitley are NOT. Some work for a short while (ours did) and many don't work correctly right out of the box.
If you have one, contact your dealer for replacement instructions. We have the replacements on the way - Ikarus is replacing the flakey RX with a MUCH better 6-channel unit by Berg. The Berg RX has been in use for a while and is considered to be a very dependable micro receiver.

CALL US - WE WILL BE YOUR BEST SOURCE FOR THESE!

Kits, Helis & Parts due back in stock in late January - early February.

Here the most amazing new product to come out in a long time. An actual PRACTICAL, AFFORDABLE INDOOR ELECTRIC RC HELICOPTER! The time Piccolo has a rotor span just over 20 inches and weighs around 9 ounces ready to fly. The 7-cell 270 mah pack allows 4-5 minute flight times - and we have another option that will triple that. (Call for details).

Made primarily of carbon fiber and fiber filled nylon parts, the parts count is low and construction is failr simple. You get everything you see in the photo below including the cute cardboard case with handle and latches - the completed heli fits in this case!

In addition to the heli you'll need the Piccoboard controller, two micro servos (JR 241's recommended), a JR single conversion crystal, battery pack and a charger for the 7-cell battery.

The Piccoboard is the heart of the heli and what makes it possible. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE UPDATED VERSION WITH BERG RECEIVER!! At about an ounce in weight, this device contains the receiver, plus a board with TWO speed controllers, Gyro, and rev-mix circuit as well as BEC circuitry. The speed controllers control the main blades and t/r motors - both are fixed pitch.

The Piccoboard is available with either JR or Futaba connectors - Part Numbers IKA720672 and IKA720673, respectively.

Our Piccolo came with no missing parts. They even have a bag with a couple of "spares" just in case. Due to the TINY size of some of the parts we suggest that you work with very good lighting and over a non-carpeted floor. (You'll have difficulty finding some of the fasteners if you drop them into a rug!)

The gears on both the main and TR motors had some minor flaws on one or two teeth. To get a good smooth fit we had to use a sharp exacto knife to scrape a tiny bit off of a couple of teeth. Also, you'll find it much easier to get the tiny wire "pins" into the main gear/shaft and head clip/shaft joints if you first puch the wire throgh both of the components individually to "open up" the holes slightly.

1/17/2000 update: There's nothing very hard about assembling the heli. The new Berg receiver works FLAWLESSLY. It is slightly bigger and the connector pins now stick straight out the end, making mounting more cumbersome, but workable. (Position the plugs with the SIGNAL wire on the outside, or towards the component side of the RX board). As expected the little fellows are challenging to fly, but they do fly quite well. We had to do a lot of work with the balancing of the paddles and a little on the main blades. Also, the tiny pushrods for cyclic are too small for the pre-drilled holes in anyone's servo arms, so you need to drill properly sized holes in the arms or the slop will make it impossible to fly in a small area. The 7c 270 mAh pack seems to be good for about 4+ minutes of hover.
