Just finished changing out the JR770 gyro and 8900G tail servo for the Curtis Youngblood Solid G with the Futaba BLS251 brushless servo. I also hooked this bird up with the full Fromeco system (finally), and added the metal cnc tail set. I'm guessing it will be a HUGE improvement over the old setup I was using. I am anxious for the weather to warm up to 15 degrees or more so I can put it in the air. |

Helis Owned: Kalt Baron .30, Raptor .30 V2, Quick USA Pro 50
Favorite Heli: I like them all. They each have their own unique characteristics that I enjoy. The T-rex 450 gets the most air time simply because of it's convenience. It's so easy when I get home to throw some food on the grill and burn a couple batteries while it's cooking. Also I never have to wipe the "fuel goo" off when I’m done. The best part is I don’t have to lug the flight box around. It's my never leave home without it heli.
Heli Tips: Keep practicing on the sim and fly as much as your time allows. Also know your heli's so you can troubleshoot and repair them. Keep them ready to fly!
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
I like anything outdoors! My wife, kids and grand kids. Anything R/C related, of course! I am a private pilot (no current which I regret) wanting to build a home built or utlralight so I can fly back and forth to work - LOL!! I love to hunt and fish (chasing the big muley bucks is my favorite), hiking the high country, archery, motorcycles of al kinds, snowmobiling, woodworking, remodeling, my dog in particular, putzing on our property, brewing beer when I have time, reloading, horseback riding, exploring new places with my wife - where do I stop??
FUN FACTS ABOUT RICK
I moved to Montana ("rattlesnake hell" as my wife refers to it-LOL) from a small town in Oregon. From there it was a 1 1/2 hour drive to anywhere and the closest towns still did not offer much in the way of hobby items. My R/C supplies all came in the mail or by the "big brown truck". I learned to fly R/C airplanes by my own by perseverance and reading RC Universe magazine every chance I could. I also attended many fun flies when I could spare the time. The great people at these fun flies taught me a lot.
My first heli was a Kalt Baron 28 in about 1985. I was fairly successful learning to fly it. I sold it to a friend after about a year and didn't get another heli until 2003, when I ordered a Raptor 30 from Heliproz. The biggest difference was with the simulator. Where were they back in 1985????
I enjoy being outdoors and, when it's to cold I enjoy working with my hands on R/C heli's or planes or woodworking. I'm contemplating doing another bronze fine art piece when the art market gets back on track. Also will be learning auto restoration as my son has a 1973 340 4-speed Rally "Cuda" that we will start restoring next spring. I'm trying to learn guitar after buying a Schecter "Hellraiser" from Todd. It's awesome--my playing isn't--- LOL! Our 21 acres keeps me busy and I’m thinning trees and piling slash whenever I can. My wife and I enjoy exploring the local area and our dogs take up the rest of my spare time.
