FUN FACTS ABOUT BRIAN
I have been into R/C in some form off and on for the last 20 years. I started in R/C cars with an RC10. I raced 10th scale off road cars somewhat competitively for around 10 years. I grew up in Southern California, and lived there nearly my entire life. Over the years I have been into surfing, skateboarding, BMX racing, motorcycles, and Radio Control. I didn't always work in the Hobby Industry, in fact I've had a lot of jobs trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life...many of those jobs only taught me what I DIDN'T want to do with my life! I worked at Mc Donalds, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut. Those jobs were awful, but now at least I know that those kind of jobs are not for me! I also worked as an Electrician's apprentice for 2 and 1/2 years which was a great experience and I learned a lot, but I just didn't want to work in the construction field for the rest of my life. So, I got a job at my local Hobby Shop in San Diego which really introduced me to business and the Hobby Industry in general. I worked there as Manager for a little over 2 years and I really enjoyed helping to get people into the r/c hobby. I decided though that I would rather concentrate on R/C helicopters and that's when I contacted HeliProz. I realized that to be successful in this industry, I needed to work for the biggest, and best r/c helicopter company! I was hired, and moved to Billings, Montana with my wife in June of 2007. So far it has been a great choice. Of course I miss San Diego, but the opportunity here in Montana is so much better. The people are great, and I really like all my co-workers and friends I have made. My wife and I bought our first house recently and it's great. We have a small zoo that lives with us...lol..actually we have 3 birds, a dog and a snake. I do have some other hobbies as well. I have a 2006 Harley Davidson Street Rod, which is a faster better handling version of the original V-Rod. I also have a 2008 Polaris Outlaw 525 quad. Montana is a great place to ride during the summer. My wife and I have taken the Street Rod up and over the Beartooth Pass which is over 10,000 feet and into the Yellowstone National Park. It was a great trip, I'll probably do that ride again next summer. I have been into R/C heli's specifically for a little over 3 years. I started on a cheap fixed pitch rtf heli that I never really learned to hover, and after crashing it repeatedly over a few weeks I decided that I needed something higher quality. I bought a Trex 450x (the grey plastic version) and learned to hover, then forward flight, and finally some aerobatics. I then bought a Raptor 30 (this was my first purchase from HeliProz!!) and realized that for me a larger more stable model was better for learning 3D flying.
I've also built a lot of helicopters for HeliProz' customers. The Raptor 30, Trex 600E, and Trex 500E, are ones that I have built of lot of. I really enjoy working for HeliProz, they are a great group of people that really care about making the Hobby enjoyable for others. One thing I really like is writing for HeliProz. I wrote the Throttle Curve and Pitch Curve set up guides, along with the "getting started" section. I remember how confusing it was to start in this hobby, so If I can help someone else get through an area I struggled with it is pretty rewarding. It's also really cool to attend fun fly's and meet the people we have talked to on the phone. I know at IRCHA I met a lot of people and putting faces to names is really fun.
