I know the whole world is Raptor-Happy, but don't let that fool you into overlooking this great value from Kalt! Both Kurt and I have been flying Kalt 30 Barons for many years (I bought one of the first ones in the USA many yaers ago) and it is a winner! Here are some key points: The Baron frame is a lot more rugged than the Raptors. So is the clutch - Kalt clutches fail at about 1/50th the rate of the Raptor units. The Kalt tail pitch slider yoke likewise is NOT at all prone to failure, nor is the tail hub. (As compared to the Raptor, where those two items sell like hotcakes). The Baron kit builds easily and everything fits well. The Kalt manual is excellent. The Raptor manual is barely adequate. I used to think the Kalt decals were ugly. Then I saw a Raptor. Pretty as the Raptor decals are, the canopy shape borders right on butt-ugly. Both canopies are very rugged and durable. The Kalt stock swash is a bit better than the Raptor stock swash. The upgrade metal swash from Kalt costs more than the Raptor's but is a FAR superior product. Same is true for most of the upgrades. The Kalt can easily be converted to a 46/50 machine and already clears 580 blades as stock. It's a rocket with the bigger motor, tho the tank gets empty fast with big motors. The Kalt 30 Baron S costs more than the Raptor but it comes with full set of HIGH QUALITY bearings, belt drive, CNC one-pc motor mount and thrust bearings). Parts are also a bit higher. The Kalt machine is very stable in hover and is quite responsive even with the standard arrangement of control arms and paddles. There is lots of collective range available, tho with hot cyclic controls you need to limit collective to about 20 degrees to avoid binding on the swashplate. HeliProz is Kalt's biggest dealer, and one of the largest dealers for the Raptor, so parts support from us is excellent and of course pricing is very competitive.
